We’ve been busy adding some backdrops and color to the studio, and now we want to see how you can use them! During the month of March, we’re hosting a contest for local photographers to see what you can do. The winner will have a free, one-day studio rental. Host some mini-sessions, teach a workshop, do anything you want with your free studio day!
The image must include one of our custom backdrops or studio flats.
You can add any other props, furniture, or items you like. You may use a model, object, or create a still life setting. However, you only have a two-hour window to create your image. That includes set up time and photo time.
You can stop by the studio to look at the backdrops and studio flats anytime during our regular hours (M-F, 9am-4pm), so that you can plan your session. Then when you’re ready:
Submit your image to Rebecca by midnight on March 31, 2020. All images should be digital, sized for web (max file size 1MB) Submitting your image gives the 304 Collective permission to share your image (with credit) for the purposes of gathering public votes. Public votes will account for half of the total score. Images will be shared on April 6, and voting will be open for two weeks.
The other half of the score will be calculated by a panel of judges using a rubric scoring images on technical merit, composition, impact, overall effectiveness, and contest requirements.
The winner will be announced on Friday, April 24, 2020.
Available backdrops and studio flats include: light tropical studio flat, dark tropical studio flat, mid-century studio flats, natural wood studio flats, or white/gray studio flats. Backdrops include the custom painted Coco and June abstract backdrop, the coral and gold muslin, or our black and white soshi screens. We’ll show some of these in our Instagram stories over the next week or so, so be sure you’re following along!
